    I think that is unusual...though I've only known 2 Wheaten roos (I own one splash wheaten) and my experience is that they're incredibly docile and take great care of the ladies...call them over for food and water, crows for hawks, even watchs them lay sometimes.     I think it's a baby black ratsnake...just ran into the problem of not knowing how far different the infants look from the adults...I killed a baby black racer because it had markings like a ratlesnake and was coiling and attacking :( Lesson learned!

    There is a breeder in Loxahatchee that sells all kinds of Marans. Mark at thefancychicken.com 561.444.8020. He's really great but I know he just left on vacation today...we bought some Black Coppers and Black Tailed Buff Marans from him and they are our sweetest birds! Highly recommend!

    A friend of ours hatched some eggs for a school project, and they have 12 2-week-old chicks if anyone is interested! Free to a good home...she's not sure of the breed as she just purchased a dozen eggs from a farm marketed for consumption. They're on vacation now but they should be available...

    Took your advice and did a layer of sand, and 2 bags of Sweet PDZ, I'll have to do the DE when I finnish the nesting boxes! Can't wait to try scooping poop tomorrow! ! Never thought I'd hear those words leave my mouth!!
