Not true. Sand is easy to maintain. No need to rake or do any of that extra work you mentioned. A small shovel and dust pan is easy to scoop and dump in a bucket. It does NOT create a concrete-like substance that blocks water. Have you ever been to the beach? Tell us, where does the water go at...

Sand is your best bet. Sand dries quicker than mud, doesnt wash away, deters parasites, doesnt leave nasty mud puddles that chicken love to drink from. Think beach.

There appears to be some type of internal tissue in the photo. Also on the back are where air sacs are located. IMO I'm sorry to say it would be best to humanely cull her.

But wait! There's no state taxes and property taxes are fairly low. I lived in southeast Georgia most of my life and they taxed you to death up there. I moved to Florida 8 years ago, I wish I had moved here sooner! I wouldve saved more money. More money means more chickens!

LOL. We've had nothing but rain all summer long. We had record 6 inches of rain two days in a row back in July. The humidity is very high also. It's been off and on rains last month and again this month. We're still running our a/c. What few sunny days we've had, it was a steam bath. Spend 10...

We have loss of daylight hours and drop in egg production just like everyone else, not to mention molt. I have some birds under a year old that are laying eggs and some arnt. The older hens have completely shut down and some are in molt. Some started molt back in late August. It's nature's way...

You might consider laying an "apron" of 1/2" hardware cloth on the ground going all the way around the outside perimeter of the pen. Somehow attach it to the boards on the base of the pen. Put it out about 15" from the base of the pen. The apron will prevent critters from digging through the...

However I currently have a couple of Buff Leghorn roosters, great roos. @Lili623 What are you going to do with your rooster? They are normally processed at 6 to 8 weeks old. You might put an...

I got my Wyandottes as chicks at a local Tractor Supply in Macclenny. They were supposed to be Blue Laced Red Wyandotte's. Since these were my first Wyandotte's, I didnt know any better. I really dont care honestly, they are a good group of birds. My first thought when I saw your photo, I...

What a mess to drive through! You have a good looking rooster, but I thought Wyandotte's had rose combs, am I...
