Sorry to reply so late...I've been on vacation! I haven't held them much, since I've been away. My son took care of them and picked them up a few times to get them out of the rain and put them in shelter. I'm hoping to get a hold of them soon...maybe tonight. Better late than never, right?

I got them from Arizona Feeds Country Store, at their south location on South 6th. We have loved watching the little ones imitate the momma...doing all their scratching and stretching...just on a smaller scale. So cute!

I was told the yellow chick is a Brahma and the black chick is an Ameraucana. I got them from a feed store, so we'll see! :-) I know that's not always the preferred way to get chickens, but I needed very young ones right then, so that's what I did! :-D Betsy is loving being a momma, so all is...

My broody hen, Betsy, didn't have luck hatching eggs naturally, so we got her a couple of day old chicks, and she is loving being Mommy Hen! I was finally able to get a good pic.

How is your pretty boy doing? Hoping he's recovering well. :> I've always liked the look of the NNs, but don't currently have one. I had to re-home a cockerel last year, which was a bummer. :-(

I hatched them in my Kindergarten classroom between May 7-9, so I'm sure of the age. The big comb and wattle is what is making me think rooster, but the friend I got the eggs to incubate from said she has some hens with very large combs. No eggs yet...I wasn't expecting that until about 6...

Haha! I love my NN! I have always been interested in them, and finally kept one. I was hoping for a hen, but looks like I got a handsome cockerel! I am in N Tucson. :-)

Here are some new pictures of my black chicken (10 weeks)…maybe a Langshans since there are feathers on the feet.

Thanks, desertmarcy! You have some nice looking hens, and such a great variety! I will check out your website, too, and let you know. I'm still trying to decide exactly what I want to do as far as adding new chickens to my flock. :-)

Thanks, Carnivore! I'll look into those breeds. Also, I wanted to correct a spelling error…I meant "wattles" not "waddles." Maybe not a big deal, but it's been bugging me..haha! :-)

Thanks for all the welcomes. :> My chicks are about 10 weeks old, so the large comb and waddles are what make me think roosters. I think the black one is an Australorp, but he has feathered feet. Is that typical on that breed? The other rooster is a Naked Neck. Not sure on the red...

    Arizona Chickens

Hello AZ chicken lovers! I am new to the chicken world and am enjoying my 3 babies so far. I taught Kindergarten and we hatched chickens every year, and this year I decided to keep a few. Sadly, I think I have 2 cockerels and 1 pullet. I'm looking forward to learning lots from everyone, and...
