I have a question.
I have two 4 week old chicks in my bed room and they have a lamp with just a regular lightbulb mostly for lighting purposes. But my question is will they be ok if I have the window open at night in my room? It's 45-50 degrees at night where I am, and the top of their box is...
Yeah. It's a 6 medium size chicken house and the lady at my TSC said because the chickens I have are either a small breed or Bantams I could get away with a couple more. I actually had seven in there no problem they seemed happy and had room but because I'd be adding two BR hens I wanted to get...
Does this coop look ok for eight chickens? Three of them are bantams. This is the coop I have but I'm getting two more chickens so I wanted to make sure it will be ok. It has three nesting boxes and I'll be adding a lot more run area.
Do you still feed them scratch? I know when it gets hot out you shouldn't feed them scratch. It makes it difficult for them to cool their systems and can have a toll on their laying. Lots of fruits veggies and water should help.
Alright. Well mine are almost 5 weeks, but the thing is It's only like 55-65 degrees here during the day and like 30-40 degrees at night so I don't know if that is the best thing to do.. Putting them outside in the coop I mean.
So where I live it's still too cold for my chicks to go outside so can I take some dirt and sand and put it like in a container for them to dust bath in?
When should u start letting my chicks dust bath? Also is it normal for chicks to try to dust bath while you hold them? One of my chicks loves being held which I love but she also tried dust bathing on my lap.
I have a question, do chickens purr? Whenever I hold my chicks and I'll be letting them they will randomly make a noise that sounds like a cat purring and I have no idea if they are doing it because they are happy or if they don't like it.
