Quote: Great news on your girl's recovery! Since I'm trying to avoid as much fighting between roos as possible, I'm trying to find new homes for two of our bantam cochins. If you're interested, here's the craigslist ad: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/grd/1241140332.html I know the ad...

Quote: Boy you aren't kidding, Rachel. If I had the start up money, I'd be on that business like white on rice. There isn't a single small time processor that will do chickens and turkeys in the whole state! I hope you don't mind me jumping in here! But, how do you all cull your birds...

Quote: Thanks for the info! From those guidelines though, I don't think she could "legally" have a coop/run. Her lot isn't too large, but she does live on a corner, so we'll see. I 'll pass along the info to her. Thanks again!

Great pics and congrats on all the new chickies! If I were you, I'd wait just in case as long as the others aren't stinky/oozing etc.... Anyone know the Tucson ordinances for chickens? My sister in law would like to have a couple, but is unsure about the laws. She lives in the city limits.

Quote: That's quite a variety! Once you're on lock down, it's very hard to stay away! And once the hatching starts, those incubator windows are not big enough!

Quote: Good luck and keep us posted! We've hatched twice in the bator before, it's so exciting! Our lastest are 6-7 days old today (they hatched over 2 days). Sending good hatching vibes your way!!!! Oh, and I liked your coop tour!

Quote: Maybe it can get passed on through the eggs - I have no idea. But, at least with your sister brooding them for you, maybe that can count for the incubation period. We bought a 6' x 6' (4' high) chainlink dog run (chainlink roof too) on craigslist for our babies to grow up in -...

Quote: I don't think you have to quarantine newborn chicks as long as your sister doesn't let them near her flock and washes her hands before handling them ? But... you will need to keep them in a separate pen from your other chickens until they are about 3 months because the other hens will...

Congrats on the new babies! They are adorable! My sister-in-law just hatched 9 bbs orps in our incubator for us in the last couple of days. She is going to be brooding them for a short time before we rehome them here. After reading purple chicken's post, we'll make sure to quarantine for...

Hello fellow zonies! I've just joined up in the chicken keeping hobby. We live in far east Mesa. Does anyone have any suggestions for local places to get supplies like antibiotics and other such first aid staples? I'm trying to build a first aid kit for any emergencies that might arise and...
