Hey, all! I need some advice from the chicken experts.
Okay, so I posted the other day that I had two Lav Orp eggs hatch at day 23. The had pipped, and had a pretty good sized piece out of the egg. However, she didn't appear to be able to rotate. The pip was there in the morning and when...
Had a dream last night that all the girls had started laying, but they laid them out in the open in random places. It was like an Easter egg hunt! LOL! They aren't quite there yet, but I hope soon. Two of them are 20 weeks old now. Keep expecting an egg, but nothing.
Thanks for the info, Magic. The dried so I switched them to the brooder. They are both peeping like mad. I am trying to get them to eat some mash, but they show no interest. I have electrolytes in their water, but am giving it to them via eye dropper because they show no interest in that...
Yes, still a bit wet. I did check it for any deformities, but didn't see anything overt. How long does it typically take before they are up running around. These two are still sleeping a lot. Thing Two seems to be gaining more leg strength. Last night she couldn't even stand up. Right now...
So after thinking about it for a bit, I decided it wouldn't hurt to put a small hole at the large end. I used an exacto knife and was able to make an itty bitty hole. I enlarged it a bit, and much to my surprise I had made it right where the chick had done its internal pip. I put it back in...
We have CHICKIES!!!! :weee Well one at least. Day 23. It pipped this morning, but when I got home tonight, it hadn't made any progress. Its beak was sticking through, but it was really struggling. It had a saddle shaped air cell that went really far down the egg. It pipped below the air...
Nah, don't let it put you off. I was just making fun of myself. Just learn from my mistake and make sure you have a big enough container to hold it all when it grows. Good news though, the pug is fine. :gig
Yes, thank goodness. The nightmares are starting to dissipate as well. For a while there I thought it was PTSD. Yeah, the FF is going well. My chickies love it now. At first, they weren't too sure, but now when I go out to feed them, they go crazy. The other morning I asked my son...
Okay, so I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamt I went out to let the girls out of the coop. In my dream the coop was like a large shed. I got to the door to open it, looked up and there was a huge mountain lion sprawled on the roof! I know it was from reading this thread. LOL...
No offense, Lady K, but I am not thinking too highly of your nephew. First the incident with telling you how to dress and act and now this??? Seriously? I am sorry, but he needs to learn some respect for his elders. The young whippersnapper! :old
That is the saddest gardening story I have ever heard! What a horrible thing to have happen, especially when your son took so much care and effort in creating it for you. It wasn't just a garden, it was a gift with wonderful memories. :hugs
The Great Fermented Feed Incident of 2013
So I am new to the whole fermented feed thing. I have been reading up on it and it sounded like a great idea. So yesterday I grab this 2 gallon plastic jug I have thinking it would be a good place to start.
I go out to the barn throw in about 6...
"...brave men and women that have volunteered to remove themselves from the gene pool...". ROFLMAO!!!:lau I often see things and say, "Well, there you have it, Natural Selection at work." I am not a Darwinian, but he had some pretty good points.
Demos~Sorry to hear about the flood. That is really horrific! I once had a guy tell me, "You know that gene women have that makes them say, 'This is not a good idea.'? Well, men don't have that." LOL When I hear stories like yours, it makes me believe his theory!:P
