Sorry to here about that, that really sucks. We have a a dog in our house that would do the same thing if I had not trained it to stay away from the chicks. He tried to jump into the brooder from the back of the couch, the first day they were in the brooder. We also have a shorthair pointer that...
My daughters friend has this rooster for FFA, and does not know it's breed. Is it a speckled sussex? I'm not sure, He seems to be a Bantam sized bird to me.
Welcome. I'm new here myself and you found a great group of people to chat with. Always helping each other out and giving great advise. And laughing at each other, lol.
That sucks. My hatch rate on my shipped eggs is about 80% so far. I candled My Welsh duck and my Blue Wheaton Ameraucana eggs last night I had a few quitters and one non fertile duck egg and one duck egg the air sac was in wrong position, I asume from shipment. But so far so good.

I had one that didnt make it out of the egg, never pipped. After day 25 I opened it up and it was dead, I guess it just quit, I dont know why.
I also had one hatch at day 24.
Ya, it's not done yet, they are already trying to get up on the edge. I still need to add another 16 inch's for the top, which I'm building now. I designed it so the middle slats slide out and I can clean the pen easier. Plus I can tear it down and store it without taking up too much space.
