Gertie is BEAUTIFUL!!!! We got eggs in May from a breeder in state....I would say local, but I drove 4 hrs down and 4 hrs back, so not really. I picked up 29 eggs from her, and an assortment, with only 3 Lav Orp eggs. Out of the total hatch I had only 2 Lav Orp eggs hatch and one Black English...

I have my first pair of Lav Orps, they are about 7 1/2 wks old, and I keep going back and forth on one if it's a boy or a girl. I know one of them is a cockeral for sure. Can you Lav Orp experts please have a look see? I've posted a thread in the What am I section here...

Thanks for sharing the link to your photos. I can see the mottled is almost hard to see on the lavender birds. Doesn't pop as much as on the blue or black birds. Have you tried the blue mottled yet? I've seen that in the cochin's and it's pretty stunning.

I have two baby orps that were said to be splash. They are five weeks old now. One looks lavender. I looked at her feather shafts and they start dark and then end light. I guess that means that is a good sign. I have no knowledge about lavenders, but I am wondering if mine is a lavender...
