Dana, that is the same exact pattern as the first one. What makes it challenging is that you must pick your own colors and make them pleasing to the eye. I'd suggest that you just print out that pic of the one you like and keep it as a reference, then go through your fabric stash and pick...
I'll put them on the other thread, here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=4492803#p4492803
The first two 14" blocks are already posted.
I have all the blocks cut out for Pansy Park and have the first one partially finished. Will try to post each block as I complete it, if anyone is interested.
Takes lots of practice. I still have the first thing I ever quilted here at the house, a pillow cover that was supposed to match a quilt for my son. The stitches are huge! I remember distinctly asking myself the same thing. It just takes lots of practice and time. I sometimes have to undo and...
My quilting isn't as good as it used to be--once I was accused of machine quilting a baby quilt when I had no idea how to use one. That won't happen anymore, though--I call my current style "Morse Code Quilting"...you know, long, short, short, short, looong, LOL.
That really happened. Once upon...
Good tip! Thanks! I think the next thing I do will be to quilt the lap quilt from the staff's block swap. It's in the hoop, ready to go. Then, I'll make an Attic Windows, then quilt this Jewel Box quilt. I think. I have two complete kits for bed quilts sent to me by Kathyinmo for after that.
The pattern really is easy. My stupid eyesight is what made this hard for me. I need BIG pieces and maybe a better quilting ruler with easier to see numbers.
Top complete, mistakes and all. I found that with me, sometimes it's worse to try to correct the mistakes rather than just leave them. I tend to make problems worse, LOL.
I have one final border to sew on, then a decision to make. I don't know what to do with it! I have no idea why I made it other than to create something cool with a bunch of the awesome fabric Kathy sent (and use some I had around here that matched the mood). I can't decide if I want to keep it...
I have three rows of three blocks each joined. I'm taking a break before sewing the strips together. They aren't perfect, not all points come together precisely, but I love the overall effect. I arranged the blocks so the colors would be in rows, diagonally if you know what I mean.
I'm having the hardest time with it and I don't know why. It should be really simple, but for some reason, things are not coming out the exact size they should be and they won't lay flat when put together. I have to "unsew" quite a few things.
I think after some checking that my eyes are the...
First block completed. Still need to square it up a bit. Have a second one partially finished, but I had to quit. I know when I start making too many mistakes, it's time to take a break.
Continued to work on it today. I think I have all the fabric cut out for nine 16" blocks. I made about 72 half-square triangles the easy way, by facing two strips face to face, cutting a 4 7/8" square, drawing a line across the diagonal, then sewing 1/4" out on both sides of that diagonal line...
Kathy, you're going to see a bunch of your fabric in there, I think. The blocks are 16" ones and I had to quit. My back is screaming! LOL. I did get lots done, will pick it up tomorrow. My broody hatched her babies, so I've been dividing my time between the broody pen and the quilt, with some...
Okay, you got it.
First I cut strips from the fabrics to begin making 4-patch squares.
Then I cut 2.5" sections from those and pair them with another section to make a square.
Still need the purples cut out. The instructions called for blue shades, but I wasn't at all satisfied with...
