    Trouble with the neighbor.

Okay, re-read the whole thread. Tala, you never posted the ordinance that allows chickens, only the at-large and vicious dog sections. Can you post whatever it says about keeping chickens? Assuming that you are in the right, I would copy the ordinance that gives you the right to keep...

Quote: Which I have been doing since this all went down in July Fast forward to September 21 and I got another notice in my mailbox tonight. I have one teenage roo who has a really puny weak crow (stealth EE roo, thought he was a girl till recently) and 20 girls who don't hardly make a...

So look at all the animal ordinances and nuisance ordinances, and prepare an overall set of nuisance concerns that would ignore cause and strictly address the nuisnace, then if an issue or appropriate time ever comes up, you can submit it with a "how about this to take care of all issues?"

    Trouble with the neighbor.

I agree to let speeping chickens lie. However, if the issue ever comes back up, or there seems an appriopriate time, rather than limiting the number or gender of birds or specifying a coop location, suggest that the current noise and nuisance ordinances (if there is one, if not, suggest one)...

However, since the OP has birds prior to any ordinance being passed that would restrict them, she would be grandfathered in with whatever restrictions are currently in place.

Well, if y'all have read the entire thread, you will know that she moved the roosters to her inlaw's property that is out in the country. I think most people have advised her to follow the law. Anyone threatening to shoot at me or mine is being reported to the police; I've been terrified over...

    Trouble with the neighbor.

Quote: Houses are NOT typically 100' long. I just looked at the plat map for my development, and many of the lot lines are 95-110 ft long. And we have unusually large lots; the smallest is nearly half an acre, many are considerably larger. The code says 100' from the residence, not the...

Ok, in a small community there may be only one DA, City or County Attorney, etc. And that one person may well be elected. However, in a larger jurisdiction, the District/City/County Attorney's office may well employ a number of attorneys, and they are probably divided into specialty groups...

Padlock your birds in their coop and run. Post No Trespassing signs ON the coop and run. Make it so that the inspector would have to break into your run and/or coop to get your birds. Without a warrant, he would be violating your constitutional rights.

Needing an attorney for a restraining order? That is ridiculous. Ask them to put that in writing. Anc call the police again, and ask to speak to the investigating officer. Tell him you NEED of the report he should have filed. In a separate call to the police (maybe do this one first) ask...

Post a big sign on the coop that says "Dog House." It's not your fault if the chickens join the dog every night for a slumber party.

    Trouble with the neighbor.

Quote: It says 100 ft from any RESIDENCE. Since they are 93 feet from the property line, unless his house is 7' or less from the property line, that is not an issue. Get written permission (preferably notorized) from your other neighbors who are closer. Also, "At Large" almost always means...

    Trouble with the neighbor.

Hmmm, okay, the coop placement is the problem? Then remove them from the coop and place them in a movable tractor. I don't recall how many birds you have, but a PVC and chicken wire tractor can be bult pretty cheaply, of get a large wire dog crate and cover with shade cloth. Also, get written...

    Trouble with the neighbor.

Quote: You need to get statements from other neighbors, especially those who live closer as to whether your birds disturb the peace with their noise. See if you can locate and borrow a decibel meter to see exactly how loud your chickens are (at the property line) during whatever time they are...

    Trouble with the neighbor.

I haven't re-read all the posts, so I don't recall...do you have No Trespassing signs on your property? Once again, call the poslice and report that he was trespassing on your property at 6am this morning, disturbing you and your animals. Mention that he previously threatened to to shoot, and...

Me & My Peeps : While a game camera is nice, it is only a snapshot of a moment in time and can easily be disputed in court. One could even argue the time date stamp on the photo(s). But a 2 minute live feed of him stalking, taking aim, reloading, checking to see if he killed it - is pretty...
