She's been really good. Although I did go out there a little bit ago and one of the babies was bleeding. So I'm not sure what happened, so I put that one back in the bator since it just hatched this morning. I got the brooder ready for some babies. I think I'll call it good with my broody...

I have another SFH broody, but she freaks out everytime i open the door and screams and runs away. she's abandoned several eggs, so i'm not sure if I...

I had another hatch last night. I stuck the little one under broody momma this morning with the other 4. The 1 that momma hatched out herself is one of my few full SFH. I have lots more in the bator. This staggered hatch thing is stressful! I believe the next hatch I do I will have another...

my broody mommas' that were co-parenting have adopted the 3 chicks that hatched in the incubator. Unfortunately there was 1 egg left in the nest that was trying to hatch and the momma's abandoned it. That one didn't make it. But the girls are being very good parents to the one's that had...

Well, good news on my broody/lockdown problem. I candled eggs before we left the other night. We had to be gone for 2 days. When we got home. The 2 eggs that I took out of the turner and put in a separate spot in the incubator they were pipped! Then I started freaking out cause my humidiy...

so I have a bit of a delima! Besides the fact I have 3 broody girls. 1 of my girls abandoned her eggs, so I took them and put them in the incubator and they're all growing. My problem is that, they're all at different stages. How do I know when to do lockdown? I have no idea when she started...

I have 2 that are pretty flighty. They're both girls. Every time I open the door to let them out, they start flying around and bouncing off the walls, squalking & chattering at me. If I disturb them when they're laying an egg, they do the same thing. Anyone have any info on SFH broodiness...

Wow! It's been a while since I've been on here. Well, aside from our tons of rain we've been getting here, we started building our house - which has now been put on hold due to all this rain, and of course a HUGE tornado swept through here on Monday. on Sunday, we put the 2 bunnies in an...

Oh, okay, I wasn't sure. He's only about 7-8 months old. I wasn't sure if it was just cause he's still young. This is my first SFH rooster that's made it this long. I've noticed all my others do go through a pain in the butt stage.

So today my rooster, 2 Face, attacked my 2 year old for the second time. I actually caught him this time (a about ripped out his tail feathers, but I caught him) and carried him around for about 20 mins. He was not happy. He was yelling at me and struggling. I finally got him settled down...

I thought all my roos had split wing until they were about 3-4 months old, I was told to wait till they're fully feathered out before determining if they have split wing. As they feathered out, they're wing feathers filled out and they are all completely fine now. I wouldn't freak out about it...

I've noticed in just about all the hatches I've had, the girls are quite a bit smaller than the boys. I don't know if that's true for everyone tho.
