    Thanks! That is so interesting. I do have a couple Maran eggs set aside from my Isbar Roo, so I think I will incubate them just to see what happens. I realize I will have to keep the chicks from this until they start laying which would be next Spring. This takes a lot of patience, doesn't it?

    What about a green egg layer (Isbar) over a Maran? Would that work the same way?

    I believe it is now called QDC Poultry in Paul, Idaho. Her name is Michelle. Easy to deal with and beautiful birds.

    In my situation the Welsummer couldn't compare with the Marans, in egg color or amount of eggs. But, then my Welsummer was a hatchery chick and my Marans were from a breeder. At age four, the Marans are still layi8ng. I will see if I can attach a pic of my eggs.
