OK, that photo is great. I seem to be using that word (great) in this thread a lot. What software did you use to insert the names like that? I am not a computer wiz for sure but would love to do something like that for a school project my g kids could have.
Your birds are beautiful. You are in Georgia? I am in Florida. I raise Chocolate Orpingtons or I should say I am starting to. I have 12 now.
Did you purchase your birds? I was wondering what the genetics are. Crossing what to what to achieve what, LOL. Again they are gorgeous. I want...
What is the dun color I have been reading about? Is it recognized to show? Do you know what combinations they breed to get this color? Only saw this once in an article on orpingtons I read on the internet. Karla
Found this table. Not sure what it means but is certainly interesting. Probably Jeremy will know the meaning. Me, I am a novice in learning.
The table below shows the expected effect of combined eumelanin diluters (The calculator can deviate for unknown combinations):

You're so smart. I like the Blue male X Chocolate female option. If she only had black hens, huh? That's a combination. I'm going to try in the future. Chocolate Roo and Black hens. I'll know who is what anyway.
Thanks!!!!! Clear as Crystal!! I've made up my mind. I am getting Chocolate Orpingtons and Black Orpingtons. Already have Buffs but will keep all separate. I know the cross with a Chocolate Roo and Black hen, if I decide to mix anything. But what if I used a Black Roo with a Chocolate Hen...
Yes I saw the chart. Thank you. You are in COLD Country. I'm in Florida!!!! 82 here today. One of my best friends lives in Alaska but only in the summer months.
Wish I could. I haven't purchased any yet!!!!! Trying to get Breeders Input. Want to stick with the standard so I can show with a friend of mine. She has so much fun showing. I have a small flock or Buff hens. Just sold my Easter Egger Rooster shown in my avatar and a few of my B/Copper...
Would someone give me a definition of a pure chicken? Easter Eggers are not a pure bred chicken, correct? But ameraucana and Araucana are? If I have a flock of different colored Orpington hens and roosters and the hens have chicks, are they all pure?
I don't want to get into the mixed breed stuff. Getting some Orpington (Pure) if I can find them and the people on this thread will lead me in the right direction. My Buffs are pure. I want to add Chocolate, not from GGF however. Just not sure if the chicks will be easier to sell then getting...
Help I am starting a new flock of Orpington Hens. I am torn between Chocolate and Blue. I love them both and was wondering if I had chicks which ones are easier to sell? I have Buffs and love them. No orpington rooster yet and I want to get at least six hens.
