I only got one Roo from my shipped hatch and he's gorgeous. I would strongly advise to wait until fully developed and as you know they tend to develop later than most breeds.
Wow lots of great advice on this board. My 3 English orps are separate from my flock but they do free range in the same area at different times. This morning I noticed their poop is like mustard. Hope I don't gross anyone out but here is a pic....any advice on how to treat and what it could be
Thanks for the advice, hopefully this will help the fluffy butts. Not looking to breed at this point but at least I can check and see if they are fertile.
Hi trimmers....thanks for your help. So I think I need to trim. Can you tell me how much? Is it just the fluff and how far down? Getting personal here;););)
Can anyone tell me if i need to trim my big boy for fertile eggs or is it only the female you trim. Or do you only trim if there is a fertility problem?
Thanks... Still learning
Talk about bad odds!! I did have a splash that everyone told me on this thread was a cockeral and she is now a huge hen... So make sure you give them time to develop.
I have a beautiful blue male that has a very dirty behind:( the girls are fine but i have read you can clip the female feathers for better fertility.... Do you think he would mind... Hes huge and couls it be worms? The girls dont have it though
To make it even more difficult this lovely english "boy" is so timid... He has never even tried to peck me.
I will say the english orps are very different in my opinion from american orps or other chickens... Very timid and not the smartest. I hope im not insulting anyone! I love them but cant...
Hello peeps,
Remember my blue "lady" that everyone assured me was a girl... Well she was making like honking noises?
Here is a more recent pic.... What do you think?
