If they were free range then yes, its easy for predators to catch them.
You mean aggressive to humans? No, they are not in general, only a few exceptions if a male was imprinted then he will attack humans thinking they are birds too, but its rare.
If your hen doesn't hatch any chicks with white Primaries then hopefully mine is split white(it will not hurt if she is w/e too ). The problem is i will never know which chicks will be from her, i have also two pied hens in her pen, so they all could produce white chicks.
She is spalding bronze peahen split for black shoulder, here she is:
I searched for white feathers on her body but can't find any, and this is her daughter, the only black shoulder chick she hatched last year:
I noticed her daughter had a white flight feather since she was young, i thought...
I have two quick questions:
1- Can a peahen be split white without having any white feathers on her body?
I have a hen which i'm almost sure she is the one who produced white chicks from my bronze pen last year, and she also produced bronze black shoulder split white peahen(she has white...
Is there enough Oxygen around your incubator? Is it close to the wall or something like that? Are you opening the incubator door to let some Oxygen come in everyday? These are important points.
That's great, i was wondering if their chicks will be split opal when breeding them to cameo male, just sent a new email to Brad 2 days ago with the new pictures next to opal and cameo hens, still waiting for his response.
If i remember right AugeredIn said if i mate them them with cameo male all the offspring will be cameo, and if i mate them with an opal male all their chicks will be opal, that's why i asked if they will be split opal.
Hmmmm i'm still confused, if they cannot be split to other colors, how this purple hen will be split to opal?!
And sorry i don't understand anything sex chromosomes
I remember when i first read about peafowl genetics that sex linked hens can't be split for other colors? Is that true? When mating purple peacock with opal hen will the hens off spring just be purple and not split for opal?!
