My pen is round. They keep going round and round, never getting to the end. It is a Temple Grandin design. Animals tend to circle around. When they are circling, they keep on going.
The baby chick pen is off the ground so everyone can go under it with ease.

There are some telescopic combs. I believe Guinevere, the mother is the better bird, so I am breeding back to her. BamBam is most likely related to Guinevere, they are good for F1/F2. We get the big comb about 15% in F1. So I have selected a nice son to carry on with. BamBam is good for...
Doing great. My problem is he is related to everyone. I need to move on to the next generation. I may retire him and use my F2's. I really like the F1's he produced with Guin.
Every bird is different. But most will be laying at 22 to 25 weeks. I depends on what time of year. They lay when 14-16 hours of light is available.

This feeding schedule was developed for limit feeding Broiler Breeders(Cobb500). These would be the parents of the CX chicks you order, feed, and process at 8 weeks. It is the method I used to raise the best four(2 cockerels, 2 pullets) of my Murray McMurray Cornish Roaster chicks I ordered...
@sambat we did loose power, but we bought a generator a few storms ago. Our 125 gallon fish tank and fridge where held over nicely while waiting for the power to kick back on. A very good investment. Good hatching Sunday!
At 16 weeks you must increase the feed or her reproductive tract not develop, and she will be delayed. This is the tap dance of death. Your Cornish cross are the terminal cross between a male meat line and a female line that will produce eggs. Together they produce the end product of a meat...
Fertility is good, it is hard to choose between the younger cockerels I have listed. There are differences in all. They are all getting along now. As the younger ones become more active I may be forced to choose. Right now they are a band of brothers.

Yes, its not easy getting the White Cornish Roasters to maturity. You have to limit feed them. My Murray McMurray hen "Betty" was hatched 2/6/2015, so for her type of meat chicken, she should be on her way out. But she is hanging in and even lays more and larger eggs than my Pure...
