One of mine lays eggs with brown speckles. Some are quite light. I think the variety is just another indication that these chickens are a big mix.

Mine have been laying for a couple months and the eggs are still on the small side, not as small as the first few pullet eggs, but still not "normal" size. I have not weighed them or compared to commercial eggs, but they look pretty small compared to my Delaware, RIR, BO and EE eggs.
