Joseph you have a great way with words - great job as always
Bob has made a lot of chicken disciples over the years - he is passing the torch - Ya'll have to keep "kicking it down the road" as he would say.
No it didnt kill the thread - we are still absorbing all that information.
Actually we move slower on that thread. You know us want-a-be Homesteaders. LOL
OK since we are are talking accumulation of eggs to hatch I have a question. I have heard to accumulate keep at 50>55 degree F but is there a preferred humidity level and is there a preferred

Can you tell me the size of the wire spacing on those cages - if its 2" wide it looks longer than 4" - Like Walt said its stiffer than regular - very similair to folding dog cages and that is 1.75"x6" - that type of wire would be bought in sheets and not rolls.

Thanks Catdaddy for educating me on the...
Yes - I agree with Zanna completely on this - I only have 14 to start with and my view changes from day to day . I have decided only two are a positive cull .
Some of the slow starters are maturing and passing the early good lookers. And to complicate it more we only have five pullets and one...
Some one tell me legband they prefer that are readable from distance . Supplier and size for Heritage - Delaware
I was just having this conversation with someone else. All ours have wing tags but its not good for quick ID at a distance.
Great informative thread.
