    It is a good feed and they only get it used like scratch, thrown on the ground in the a.m. and used to call them back home when they free range. They would only eat that if I mixed it in the feed, for sure! The only one who gets it as his main feed is my Zane.

    This is the "scratch" I use, called Knockout. It's really a feed for game roosters. Has 11 grains and is 12% protein, though recently it was 13%, but they added more corn to the mix. Still, it's a nice quality feed--my crippled rooster, Zane, who lives in his own cage, eats it almost exclusively.

    Tori, I bought that at the Fannin County Co-op and it cost me $13.50 or so, which is about $4 higher than the regular layer pellets. I may not keep them exclusively on that, maybe alternate, due to the cost and my meager $$$.

    Currently, am trying out the ADM Alliance Fancy Bird Show Pellets, which are 17% protein. Occasionally, they get a spritz from a spray bottle of RedCell mixed with Wheat germ oil on something I give them, like oatmeal, but more oil than Redcell due to the high iron content of that.
