I have heard bits and pieces of a breeding project whose goal is to design a roo that can be kept in the city. They are breeding for a mute rooster. I don't know what breed it is in, but they've almost accomplished it in just a few generations.
They select their lowest(volume wise) and quietest...
I heard that keeping them in the dark can help.. but what good is a rooster, if you have to keep him cooped up in the dark?(Breeding, of course)
I also know that they won't crow nearly as much if they are kept by themselves all the time.. but again, what good are they if they are in solitary...
