I will post pictures when they get a little bigger. I have two Mauve pullets and one hen. The hen molted this past Fall and he feathering...

    Chocolate Orpingtons

I have noticed that my chocolates feather rather slowly; a couple are 3 mo. old and still have few feathers on their breasts. I have raised LF Cochins and the fill in (and out) slowly too. The big breeds teach patience.

Lovely!, what a pretty head. These Chocolates are fast becoming my favorites. The contrast of red wattle and comb against the deep brown is so pretty.

    Chocolate Orpingtons

I have 1 mauve Cuckoo hen in with my Chocolate roo. I have hatched 2 Cuckoo chicks; one looks to be Chocolate cuckoo and the other looks darker. Could it be blue? I barely have learned the basics of chocolate breeding and Cuckoo is throwing more into the combination than I understand right now...

I have LFs. I do have a Cuckoo Orp. hen that was in with them at the time I collected the first eggs. I thought I recognized her eggs and separated them but a couple of them could have made it to the incubator. Also, the breeder I got my Mauve from called her a Dun (?) Cuckoo hen that was in the...

I started keeping chickens with Cochins because I love fluffy round and calm birds but Orpingtons lay better than Cochins!

My pen is a Chocolate cockerel, 3 Chocolate females and 1 Mauve female. Two of the chicks that I hatched recently are very, very dark. They look Black to me. Could my pen produce any Blacks?

Yes, painful but I sure do like these Orps. Here is the Chocolate pullet I got with the Mauve girl- I hatched 3 more chicks today, 2 definite Chocolates and a dusty colored chick that I guess is a Mauve

    Chocolate Orpingtons

I have a pullet that the breeder called a Dun. Is she Mauve? I have them in with my young Chocolate cockerel and I have been saving their eggs. I hatched two chicks two weeks ago that were both very dark. I swear they are black. Last week I hatched two chicks, one most definitely having...
