Just came across two different ads in the 'Buy-Sell-Trade' section to sell/rehome chickens in both SA and D/FW area if anyone interested. One ad in "Animals for Rehoming" and one in "Chickens 8 Wks and Older". Wish I had room for more :hmm

Hi, ATX, just a quick couple of answers to questions. If your run roof gets shade all seasons most of the time then insulation won't be needed for heat abatement, but it does help eliminate drips from condensation. We used a leftover roll of wafer-thin insulation from our barn build underneath...

Welcome, ATX! Presume you're in a subdivision with fenced backyard vs rural acreage? TSC has lots of good supplies, depending upon which store you use. Just a few random thoughts about your questions: --Presume you're constructing your own coop/run and not buying the cheaply made, worthless...

We're NW of Kerrville. Clouds threatened but allowed a fabulous display of totality--very emotional! Thank you, Mother Nature!

Fingers crossed that the clouds will part and allow us to see The Great Eclipse on Monday!! We're in the path of totality, so am anxious to experience this once-in-my-lifetime event!:fl

TXBlues, I'm also in Cen. TX (Hill Country). Just some thoughts on your A-frame coop: will that be in total shade during the day during all seasons? If not, the tin roof will turn your coop into an easy-bake oven, no joke. You should consider insulating, then chicken-proofing, the interior...

Very sorry to hear about pets going to The Rainbow Bridge. What a way to start a new year....:hit I lost Wilma, my EE, one night many years ago. Horrible. Next day she showed up when I opened the barn door. It was one of the most joyous occasions I'd ever experienced. I hope the same for the...

Our (former) neighbor said she always wanted to name one of her mini- donks Vashti; not sure why she didn't. I think Vashti might have come from the movie "Giant" with Liz Taylor and Rock Hudson ;) I try to pick the 'homespun' or off-the-beaten-track type names for my girls. Vashti was very...

I purchased some Dominique pullets from a farm breeder near Waco several years ago but can't locate the name. My oldest of those girls, Vashti, passed away in February this year--she was 8 1/2 years old. Love the breed.

Had a northeast breeze this a.m. Wha-a-a-a-t?! Was nice but didn't last long. Sad when anything below 100F is considered a cold front. Husband leaves for Vancouver this weekend to escape the Heat Bomb. He'll be taking a SWEATER to wear at night :barnie Their current "heat wave" means temps in...

Someone in Caldwell (over towards College Station-ish) has posted a need for re-homing their 9 hens (approx. 14 weeks old). Suggested they put their ad here in the "Texas" section.

Place a notice here in BYC in the "Buy-Sell-Trade" section under 'Free to Good Home'. Be SURE to put your general location/city so you can target the folks nearby and/or within driving distance. Also put his photo in with the posting. Beware of folks who'll end up putting him in the pot if...

Hey, NagemTX how do you like your EGO string trimmer? Just finished about 20 minutes of pasture grass weed wacking with mine. Works great, but tough to get the battery off sometimes.

Forwarding this info from the BYC "Animals in need of Re-Homing" thread (Buy-Sell-Trade forum). Might have already been posted here. Someone in San Antonio needs to re-home 3 gentle buff orpington laying hens, age 3. Hoping someone here might be interested. Thanks!

Check in the "Buy-Sell-Trade" forum. They have a thread for 'hatching eggs'. Be sure to put your general location in the subject line. You might also put out a request in the "Where am I, Where are You" Louisiana thread, since you're not really that far from So LA.

"Mama" you might try posting your question in the BYC Chicken Breeds section, under "Chicken Breeders & Hatcheries" if there are specific heritage breeds you are seeking. Be sure to indicate "Texas" or "North Texas" in the subject line.

I'm about 30 minutes west of Fredericksburg, on some acreage. Closer, actually to both Kerrville and Harper, as the crow flies.
