    We used to crow hunt several years ago, the call we used was a electronic call that had crows hollering and owls hooting.. more times than not a Hawk would come in to investigate what the ruckuses was all about..i think those calls you are talking about are made to deter rodents and smaller...

    My babies hatched !!! 12 out of 16 hatched i had 1 die in the egg fully developed, it had a dime size hole pecked in it ??? dunno what happened and 3 eggs didnt do anything no pips or nothing and all looked good at lock down.. i still have them in the bator but dont know if they will hatch.. i...

    Thanks.. this is my first time incubating and was just wondering if it could cause the chicks trouble getting out.. i have seen several photos of chicks hatching with the eggs touching but was curious as to what others preferred.

    Just put all 16 eggs on lock down.. when i put them in the hatching tray the eggs kinda settle together in the middle is it ok for the eggs to touch? or would it be better for them not to?

    im not as experienced as most on here but i have seen a few of my hens do the same.. when i see this it is usually when i put a new hen into the flock the original hens will peck when the roo gets her down

    Sooo.. i built a candler today bought a 75watt spot beam bulb for it re candled the ones i thought was duds and they all looked GOOD.. guess the delawares eggs were a lil more dense and harder to see through with a flash light...should of never doubted the old dude !!

    Just finished day 7 candle 6 out of 8 JG's looked great 2 of them im not for sure about.. i also set 8 delaware crosses same day only 2 of them was for sure fertile my old roo is not getting it done.. still very exciting as this is my first time incubating
