Beautiful. I say girl... but Silkies are sneaky. We have some five month olds and I still have no clue. She doesn't look splash though. We have a splash who isn't "splashy" (for lack of a better term) but her base color is a pale grey color. This one looks white or cream.

I will come and check on them. :) You just may not have a lot of adults left when you get home but your chicks will be fine!

I agree... Sexing guinea is close to impossible. All I know is that I have some females. LOL

So far I have only got one egg from them, but when they are laying and we have good fertility we will be selling eggs.

Timon was helping my wing band chickens today. (Wing banding is SO MUCH EASIER than leg bands...) His idea of helping was to sunbathe and then run away when the Silkies got too close to him. He is a useless farm cat, lol Anyway. Guinea time! After we got our first egg a few days ago I have had...

If you want to get rid of the Jubilee they have a home here… I can't hatch them fast enough even with six hens/pullets laying.

It also depends what breeds you are buying. You can fit more Silkies in that area than you could English Orpingtons.

Thankfully we haven't had a cream egg layer in ours…yet! They have all laid a blue/green egg.

We get $20 minimum for a pullet at 4 months. That's pretty much how much it costs to raise them to that age. The $20 are the EEs or the Sex links we have too... Most of our other breeds are more than that if we have any spare. Ugh tell me about it. I can get double cream girls but NO boys. So...

Tolbunts are ok to grow out if you can keep them from ALL OTHER CHICKENS. Otherwise they do just die. I love them though. Mine are not any more flighty than my CCLs.

I was saying to DH today that I really enjoy the blue eggs in our egg basket. One day I will get a picture of our egg color ranges! Tomorrow I want to get some guinea pictures though. :D

Or a White Orp. They lay a light brown colored egg. :) I LOVE the Lavenders. We have a beautiful flock, half from Donna and half from hatching eggs. We have Pied, Pearl, White, Lavender, Coral Blue, Brown, Buff or Buff Dundotte and an Opaline or Porcelain one... I should go and get some pics...

One day of rain and all of the pens are like a swamp again. Especially that darn Marans pen. I don't know what they do in there but it is RIDICULOUS. Spring so needs to arrive!

Of course!!!! I just need him to finish off my Marans orders but they are laying like CRAZY so it shouldn't be too long. :) It has been too busy and it's only March...

They test a certain % but I'm not sure on the % exactly. I think it's around 25%? Last time we guessed we had 200 adults and he tested 50. But there is a minimum number they have to test so if your % falls below that min they will just test the min.

Hey everyone! :) I have not checked in here for ages! That is what happens when you get married and add 100 new chickens to your existing pens when you didn't have enough space to start with... We are (hopefully) moving to FL in May but until then can I pretty please be added to the TN...

Everything is frozen here but it's not THAT cold... only when it's windy. I think it feels warmer than the freezing rain we have been getting recently! It's currently a tropical 18 according to the car thermometer. Hope everyone's birds did ok.

:( It's colder here (around 26) but no snow other than a light dusting of hail earlier. High tomorrow is meant to be around 19, which is an improvement from what it was meant to be (12). Everyone is locked away for the night... they will probably stay that way tomorrow too.
