Don, I've been patiently waiting for you to elaborate on this post, but you haven't so far. Might I prod you to do so??
In case you don't remember, I'm inbreeding multi-purpose x BCM roo for 4 generations, always cross with pure BCM fathers.
A google search for "absorption crossing" sure doesn't bring much up, just one conversation about cow breeding and your comment here. An FAO.org document mentions it, but they describe it very differently to what you've described.
Can you point me to any further discussion of this "absorption...

Cockerel 1 and 2 are brothers, but unrelated to Rooster 1. Cockerel 3 is an F1, and therefore brother to all my current pullets. Must I...
no offspring cockerels are with offspring pullets, all cockerels are being culled for meat. So all pullets are with their fathers (2 different bloodlines)
Don, we don't know each other, but I thought I would ask you specifically given @scflock 's high regard.
I have pure BCM roosters, cross breeding them with a local multi-purpose hen, and then inbreeding for 4 generations in the hopes of getting the recessive BCM gene to turn them into very...
When I am storing up my eggs for a setting, they sit in my ground floor, which stays consistently 55-60F and maybe 35% RH. Once I fill a carton (12), it gets set at a 45 degree angle until I am ready to set.
For my first hatch this year, there was no discernable difference in egg age versus...
Yeah, no improvement in the hatch rate yet, but I'd never set eggs laid in the dead of winter before. I think the outside temperature has had some impact on egg quality, but that could also just be me defending my bad habits. I started the first hatch at 35% RH, and got way more weight loss than...
96 set. 68.75% fertility rate, 77.27% hatch rate, 17.6% mortality after hatch (first 3 days in brooder), leaves me with 42 chicks, mostly BCM looking. Day 3 has started in my 2nd hatch, with 100 set.
The eggs below are my 2nd setting, these are Gen 2 eggs, note the distinct difference in...
Well, good news. A friend who raises BCMs just gave me the loan of one of her cockerels, actually a bird from the same clutch my younger BCM came from. So in a week or so I will be back up to a compliment of 3...here's hoping he's randy.
I recently lost one of my 2 BCM cockerels (34 week old), leaving me with 1 Rooster (1 year and 41 weeks) and a setting mate of the deceased to service my flock of 46 pullets (with more pullets to come). My first setting this year (96 eggs set on 1/6/16) had only a 68% fertility rate.
So I am...
Am I being too persistent in asking for comments on my purebred BCM roo, posted in post #10819...now 4 pages ago? I have recently received 2 additional purebred BCM roos, 3 weeks old, from the same breeder.
I'm sorry about the quality of the pictures, but I would appreciate what critical feedback you might have for my roo. I should point out that his comb and 1/2 of one toe fell off this spring due to frostbite in the winter. Also, he was tackled in the bush by two of my Bichons who, I think...
