Had to share this...
I have a few day old button quail that hatched out by his lonesome the day i sold the other goslings. He has been crying forever and last night more goslings finally hatched to keep him company. Here you can see him snuggled up on top of one of them. At other times he is...
Nasty as in dirty looking or mean? My gander is both lol. He has done nothing but stand in his designated part of the yard and honk at everyone and when your back is turned will charge after but doesn't bite. Hoping they will return to their normal sweet selves after breeding season.
If its that bad where the bumble has extended the foot and their is heat in it i would talk the vet into letting you have some injectable antibiotic like baytril. Thats what i used on all of my ducks, goose, and swan that have/has it. Holderread discusses using terramycin in stories but not sure...
If you have the time and the innovative personality you could design a skimmer box for a kiddie pool with a pump to keep the water circulating without clogging the pump. I used plastic tubs from walmart, scotch brite pads, fish cartridge filters, hay, (as filters) along with a oilless sump pump...
I don't really name my birds, they don't last long when i name them. Some do acquire nick names that distinguishes them from the rest like, the chickens are yellow hen, old red, young red, phoenix, and the ducks are old hen, nana, and milo. The other sebastopols are just goose and gander...
I feed mine flockraiser,layena,and scratch

Correct me if i'm wrong but with the price/egg capacity ratio comparison between the brinsea's and sportman's it would be better to got with the sportsman, even new they would be well worth it. (even new i think its cheaper to go with sportsman, then again its been away since i compared prices)...
I have to admit an incubator that i love and that i literally set up and forgot about (besides occasionally making sure humidity tray was full was the 1502 GQF sportsman. I set the temperature on the digital monitor, filled the water tray, and 16 days later i heard peeping coming from the bator...
I have a brinsea that is coming the 27. It was reasonably priced and the whole incubator rocks so you wou don't have to worry about them falling out. You can gather eggs for about 10 days before "fertility" goes down. The best thing to do would just be to gather X amount of eggs from your stock...

It wasn't that great of a picture anyhow, out of all that i took this was the best ones of the geese and i thought my knees looked better than the expression on my face.
