Babies are all doing good. I have them in a separate pen from the rest of the flock but the big girls can see them. I made a small fenced off area where momma can take them outside. They really love pecking at the ground. Its interesting to watch momma teach them different things.
Today is day 21, I now have 10 baby chicks and 3 eggs that are still unhatched. Question....once momma is done hatching eggs, how long will she stay in nest ? Her nest is a layer box about 2 ft off the ground. I'm new at this, how does she get them down or do I?
Went out this morning to see how momma was doing, no babies yet but looks like quite a few eggs are pip. ( I believe thats what its called) Now i guess i wait for the zip! Lol :cd :jumpy
Sounds like she will be a good momma! Lol I did read somewhere if you move them to do it at night. I have never hatched chicks before . I have 15 days left before my chicks arrive, gonna be a LONG 15 days. Good luck moving yours.
Thanks Turk, what you said maks perfect sense. That was what i was thinking all along, momma would take care of babies. I will only interfere if she is a bad momma.
