I grew up in Collinsville so I knew what the Temps are like. I am in louisiana now and it is worse than st Louis. I don't let hen set during the summer months cause it is way to hot and humid. Even the newly hatched chicks just get a heat lamp at night.

Do you have a thermometer in the coop to know exactly how hot it is getting? That could explain alot

Put a a/c unit in the coop. Give them a break from the heat.

Haven't been on in a long time. This year I had 1 broody. Now I have a broody guinnea. She is on about 30 eggs and her mate is sitting with her. It should be interesting.

I know this thread is for the natural hatchings, it's just that my broodies aren't ready yet. And the fuzzy buts are so darn cute

We have chicks hatching. Yaaa! This never gets old. I get excited every time.

The day you set them is day 0. The next day is day one. If there was a temp drop it could be as much as day 23 to 25. After that. It is possible they might have stopped developing or die in the Shell. But peeping is a good thing. Good luck.

My silkie is doing well with 3 eggs of her own and 2 bantam eggs. She has been on them for 5 days. Got them marked tonight so if any of the bantam decide to lay next to her I will be able to tell who's eggs are who. The eggs in the Bator are due to hatch this Monday and the following Monday...

I think I have a broody hen. I gave her 6 golf balls to see if a she is gonna stay broody. If so I am gonna give her a few of my eggs no that I have a couple of roos. Got my fingers crossed.
