Well, my little chick didn't make it after all. I believe i should have isolated her longer (as suggested). By the time i realized she was in trouble i did separate her, but it was too late. And i guess i will never know, there could have been a reason she wasnt able to hatch on her own. It...

Thanks fisherlady. I did that yesterday. I let them into the small pen this morning. I had intended to restrain them again today, but i didnt. I wish i had but i had a dog emergency and it messed me up. But they seemed go be doing well when i checked them a while ago.

Well, Slim Chance made it thru the nite! At last check it was wobbling around really looking fragile, but peeping like crazy because it can't keep up with the other 8. Mama shows it no sympathy. If it survives all the jostling thru tomorrow it should be ok, i think. I am considering Chance or...

Thank you, it is out of the shell on wet paper towel and heating pad. Peeping and wiggling, but i don't know....i think when it had its beak out for so many hours that it began drying out. It had a few stuck spots that i was able to release, but one wing (the one that was stuck) seems smaller...

I found one more egg with a live chick.....just the beak showing. But mamais off the nest doting on her eight chicks. Without an incubator is there anything i can do to save it?

I can hear chicks in three more eggs, but she is taking her babies out to dinner already so i dont know if they will hatch.

Six chicks this morning, yay! I was able to move them into a roomier nest box with no problems from mommy.

Last check i saw the gray (blue) chick and a yellow one. Yellow is odd because mom is blue and dad is black, but it sure is cute. (No other roos around)

Today is hatch day.......i opened the coop to find a dead mouse on the floor. As i went to pick it up i saw it had little chicken feet. i was shocked at a dead chick and that it was not in the nest.
