Definitely. I do that also because each pair are the same age as each other and came from different places. I didn't realize how shadowed that second one was. Darn!
I'll get some better pics this weekend when they're running around. They're itching to get back in the coop again and I'm...
Mothers were BCM or "Ameracauna". Father is AM. I don't know if the guy has true AMs or not. I bought these from his friend who had them at a swap.
another shot of the second black one. This one is getting me really attached :)

These are 6 1/2 weeks old and I'm hoping at least one of my EEs is a pullet! I'm still learning. Is the feather pattern on #2 a girl? I think #1 is a boy.
Thanks, everyone! :)
@subhanalah Here are the two more outgoing, curious ones now at 7 1/2 weeks. I'm pretty sure the first one is a boy. What does everyone think? Some of my pics came out blurry. When I get more time I'll take more :)
Oops. Edited because I uploaded the wrong pic! The second one looks an...
Father is an Ameracauna. Mother was either that or BCM.
It is the biggest of the ones I bought at that time. Another from the same group has feathered legs but this one is clean, so I'm guessing EE.
Ah, yes, for sure. I'd been meaning to tell you that this is one of my new ones you pointed out that craned its neck up and you had pegged as boy from the get go. Its comb is pinking up. You were right :)
I'm noticing some pink on two of my EEs. I'll be posting pics for input soon but I'm already convinced. Little buggers. Why are the cutest and funniest ones always boys? Lol
This thread has some good pictures that'll illustrate. It's the feathers in front of the tails in males. They are long and hang down, often more pointy. The females' are rounded and...
I agree and am practicing this. My older birds I bought all together and are in the coop. My younger ones are in the house for now. Keeping fingers crossed that everyone stays healthy! Most were from the same person, so I expect so.
it's up to the management at each store, I believe. Several near here have been having them this spring and my local one started last weekend. I think it takes enough people inquiring and having an interest in setting up.
have you tried some farm stores to see if they're holding swaps? You can also find swaps and birds to buy on local Facebook groups. That's how we got most of ours, from friends of friends that were selling at monthly swaps :)
One good thing, EEs are always in demand here, it seems. Everyone trying to get those colored eggs, so any extras I need to sell should be easy :)
My adult rooster is an EE, Turbo, and we love him.
