I need to get new pics but the little girl I thought was black-laced is actually feathering out blue! She is starting to look so pretty!

I guess I just have to wait then! I'm not very patient.

So here is the pic for someone that was wondering: It's not the best, but maybe you can tell how the feathers towards her back and underside are a lighter shade than the ones at her top/neck? I'm pretty sure she'd be considered a black variety, yes? And I couldn't get a good pic of her...

So question regarding color...I am pretty sure that my girl is going to be black-laced, but it seems like the black isn't even...in some areas it is darker than others. She's about a month old - will that even out as she gets older?

Ooo Mine will be coming from Meyer, hopefully she will be pretty too! I've gotten nervous with everyone saying hatcheries sell inferior birds, but I just want yard candy so am not willing to shell out the dough for breeder quality.

Interesting. I'm relatively new to chickens (about 8 months now) but all of mine have been hatchery birds. I had one day old chick die during shipment (was DOA), but my only other losses have been to predators, no problems with disease here. I don't know what to expect for friendliness, but...

Curious - since mine will be from a hatchery and it came up - what does everyone have against hatcheries? What makes their birds inferior to a breeder? While on this forum I have seen very few positive opinions about hatcheries...(FWIW I'm not going to be breeding, just wondered why everyone...

Ok, so I guess I have to hope my new baby will actually be a splash. I think they are the prettiest. Is there any way to tell as day old chicks or not until their feathers come in?

Do you have any pics? I'm not so worried about eggs - I have some production birds for that. These will mostly be the "eye candy" LOL. I actually like the lighter blue to the really dark ones myself. The plan is to super socialize these as they will be more pets - the production birds I did...
