Definitely all pullets, roosters would have a much fatter comb by 15 weeks, my silver laced roo is about 10 and his comb is fatter than their combs, definitely pullets
I know he wouldn't be considered a good gold laced, they are my mane colour of Wyandotte but I didn't think he looked like a good blue laced in that pic
I'm so sorry, I've not had the problem with lose dogs yet because I live in the countryside with my closest neighbour a field away. I have a near farmer who sometimes gets fox hound puppies to raise for my local hunt and they sometimes come across the fields and into my garden but they are...
Okay, my only problem is my welsummer hen is very territorial and gets very aggressive to new comers, so much so that when my GLW roo, (the father) died recently she has stated cocking and taking on his role, so I don't know whether she would try and kill them, I will have to see
Ok I have a Wyandotte hen with two chicks, they are both 8 and a half weeks old, what age should they leave her, they have their main bond broken, she feeds them now and then and when I let them out the run they go off together but slowly separate to the point of being opposite side of my...
Wyandottes are stocky and they must have rose combs, single is a no no, they may not be BLRW if they have single they may not be Wyandottes, get some pictures and post them so we can see for our selves, also Wyandottes have small tails and are slower feathering than lighter breeds like friesians
I have a pet chick because I had 4 friesian hatching eggs but when the forth hatched it was a campine so I fell in love with it and was going to keep it wat ever the gender but thankfully it is a hen, I love her, she's called goldilocks, but my others are eaten if they are spare cockerels
Amen, I agree, to many people are just getting cockerels and then giving them away to awful lives where it would have been kinder to kill them and eat them, I keep my unproductive chickens until they die and my unwanted Roos are eaten or is they are pure bred sold at shows
I live in Worcestershire in the West Midlands but sadly my parents don't let me travel far for chickens, I found a Phoenix breeder in Hereford and I'm pushing it to get my mum to drive me there.
Over here in England we have loads of bantam Wyandotte breeders but not many large fowl breeders, I have a neighbour with some trios of BLRW and I really like them, all I have is a gold laced roo and a gold laced hen with 3 GLchicks and a silver pencilled hen and silver laced hen and some other...
Guys could you post some blue laced chicks because i got what i thought were friesian eggs but only 3 were friesian and one is random and he has blue laced wyanottes so i think it might be one of them.
any pics please, (the chick is a couple days old)
