delisha, I know, but I dont and havent. I have some blue orps, and wyandottes. Starting with new breeds in spring and need to rehome and possibly sell current stock. Pretty sure you and I have had contact on this discussion before.
blessedholler, What are you looking for ? Are you considering showing, breeding or just want good looking healthy chickens? I recently purchased 3 blrw's from Meyers hatchery out of Ohio. I must say that they are fat and sassy and looking beautiful at 7 months. I do not have a cockerel of this...
delisha,
Okay, heres the deal-----Hopefully this spring I am acquiring 2 new breeds I have done a little homework on. I will be raising and breeding these for both meat and egg color quality. I will be getting fertilized eggs, so I have some hatching to do and will be waiting all summer long...
I know judging from comments and followups that not all hatcheries operate in the same way. Some are much better than others and more reputable. The promotional sales pitch from one hatchery I have used starts out by saying that they provide only the best to you coming from quality show winning...
Nickeechickee, in reality, they the hatcheries are a breeder of sorts but sell birds in great quantity. A private breeder can select a good bird to sell you from his flock of near perfect birds coming from awesome bloodlines. A hatchery doesn't take the time to go through its award winning...
delisha, So what you are saying is that Hatcheries are not using their show quality stock (which they most certainly have) to supply you with good quality birds each and every year? Bad choice of words by you in my opinion. These hatcheries wouldnt have survived for as long as they have if they...
Not really much up on the wyandotte roos persay. Coloration wise and body structure wise, I would say Mr. Black wins out. Hatchery stock carries all the right traits and genetics, you just have to filter out the good from the bad when restocking your coop flock. Good pet quality birds dont have...
Chickenhill, Okay, I have 3 BLRW's, 7 blue orpingtons, 2 barred rocks, 2 jersey giants, and 2 siverlaced wyandottes. All but the blue orps are free for the taking. See you before spring?
PeakyBeaky! First sensible answer all day from this thread. Her body feathers are bluish gray silver and her hackles or lacing appear goldish rust. You say this is the blue shades connection? A first for me to see it. Looks nothing like the SOP of a BLRW. Thanks!
