And from my experience with USPS it is either great service or the PITS.
Their guarantees and insurance is worthless as it is always someone else's fault that a box looks like a gorilla sat on it.
Thank you,
I realized this other pic may really show the color a little better even though one of them decided to shake HER body.
One has a lot more red on the face and neck and the butt fluff is a shade or two darker. It is also the one in the pic by herself above.
hmmmmmmm hmmmmmm think...
Hi all,
Have not been here much for a few months. I kept one of the hatchery hens I got last year. She turned out very light splash and she is pretty as chickens go, but she just was not what I wanted.
I got some of Uncle Bee's Birds eggs just before he sold everything. The poor eggs has a...
Thank you. I had hoped to get one that was blue, but I do like her and enjoy watching her in the yard being a chicken with the other girls. She stands out nicely.
This is the one girl Bantam BLRW Splash that I kept from what I got from Meyer Hatchery. I got 6 from straight run since they do not sex bantams. 4 were boys, only 1 of which had any blue lacing. It would still probably be a splash when mature. The girl I kept had the best lacing, the girl I let...
Thanks delisha,
When they stand up straight all look pretty "chesty" - guess that is the wyandotte in them.
I almost sent 2 away and decided to wait and see. I have a BLG that looked like a boy very young and now lays eggs. It is also the only one with an appreciable amount of blue.
3 is in...
Hey all,
A while back I posted about my hatchery BLRW chicks. Well they are still PQ but looking much better each day.
I rehomed 2 that I feel sure are boys and have 3 girls and one that is iffy. The comb and waddles are nothing compared to the 2 boys, but bigger and redder than the girls...
Ya might get a surprise and get an egg. I let go two Colombians I thought were roos and now I am second guessing myself based on the 4 I have left. I hope it does not take 10 months.
WOW, thank you soo much. I really enjoyed looking through that gallery. My chicks are nothing as nice as yours, but as they feather, I can start to imagine how they may develop. So far it looks like everyone is a splash - I don't see any that will be a nice blue. That is OK, as long as they are...
I had hoped for a little more, but will be happy with pretty layers. If I were ever to get into the country with room and no neighbors to worry about (i M currently in stealth mode) I would go to a breeder just to have something that is closer to the SOP and recognizable for what it is. I am...
I have 6 chicks, all from a hatchery. I thought surely out of 6 I would get 1-2 that were at least fairly nice - not show /breeding but close to type/color.
I think all will be splash but I am wondering if the feather/lacing usually looks like this at this point.
Will it get better after a...
The color looks pretty accurate on my computer. They are very light with a blue/grey tint in some places. There is still a lot of baby fluff that is yellowish or beige
I did not take baby pics so I don't remember the baby color real well.
I have 6 chicks but could only get 3 b4 it started getting dark
All are at 4.5 weeks
Chick 1
I think may be girl
Chick 2
I think may be boy
Chick 3
I think a girl
WOW my BLRW chicks do not look like any of these. Wondering what I really have. When I can take a few pics of them I will post. Maybe you can tell me what you think.
I am so sorry that happened. What a shame people do not keep their dogs at home. Even if he replaces/ pays for chickens - it is not the same as having the babies you raised.
ki4got and delisha, thank you so much!
I now have a better understanding about color and lacing. It is going to be so much fun to watch these 6 chicks grow up. I can already tell I have a variety pack of color/pattern possibilities. I am seeing the very pale blue shades and many shades of...
