Would like to let yall know that my hen is doing great!!!! Her scab has fell completely off and you can see her new skin!! Feathers are growing back around the edges and she is jumping and hopping around!! I just wanted to thank yall fo helping me out!! ill update pictures as soon as I can!!
yes it is!! I sprayed her with that on the first day and you know as well as i do you cant get that stuff off!!! lol!!! she is doing great I just hope that the wound heals completely!
Thats what I thought!! I had to close the lid on my box but my bulb burnt out and I cant get another one till tomorrow so she will be in the dark tonight!!! I plan on putting the chicken wire back up tomorrow so that she can move around but I just couldn't do it tonight!! will she be ok with out...
well she wasnt really flopping she was sitting there and then when i tried to get her she ran from me actually ran from me!!! i guess that is a good sign right??
already did that and I am!! lol!!! So guess what... I went to take the pictures and she had flew out of the box and was hiding behind a box!!! floping around!! the pocket has sealed itself back shut which is a good thing and the wound is still really dry... here are the pictures...
there is no way that i can sew this up... its just to wide... i will try and taper her tighter on that side and keep up with the neosporian best that i can... i guess all there is to do is watch and see!! but time is killing me.
ok well i might try and sew the pocket back to her???? i really dread this... I cant tell wats bad and whats good. should I wait and see if the pocket re ataches itself to her skin own its own. I coulld tape it tighter to her body... i am going to have to sew this to her meat not her skin cause...
from what I am seeing the wound seems to look like it is healing... i mean its as big as my hand but everyone on here says that with time it will heal... I plan on keeping her isolated until her feathers start growing back. also she is standing and walking around in her box which is a good sign...
ight i see that I need to make some changes... ill take some pictures and post some!!! thanks so much for the help guys and keep coming with the info trust me it is needed!!
Ok yall are making me feel so much better!!! it seems like I should jus go get the neosporian!!! she is in a box... my brooder... but I havent put lamp on her. should i be placing towels under her and them replacing them daily??? its a little smelly in the box but i dont see any puss or...
Great!! I was really worrying about sewing her up... she is standing up and eating still which is a good sign... I am going to get some ointment tomorrow but if I am using bluein cant I just use vasiline??? also as it heals slowly i can remove the tissue by just pealing it away... will the wash...
I am really scared for her... she is doing good but I just worry that the skin wont unroll and that i wont be able to sew her up. if I have to wait a couple of days she might not make it. that wound is really dry!!!
check that I had a little thing of antibiotic ointment in my first aid kit... so i out it everywhere all over the wound. what if the skin is curled under on the sides? also how do i remove the dead tissue?
ok so I should let the wound soften up a bit... I will go tonight and get the ointment and then apply liberally until the wood in pliable... then i should sew her up? I have done pleanty of seutures on horses so it shouldnt be to hard... how long until the wound is moistened if I put it on her...
