Lorilyn Farms, that's exactly what I think, and why I came here to post. I know that a lot of folks here aren't in the city and so they might have the space on their land and in their hearts to let in a dog like this. She just needs a really special owner.
Oregon BYCers, I have a problem that I'm seeking your help on. My sweet, devoted dog Marla...she has big problems. She's such a fearful dog that she can't be allowed indoors when we have company, which has caused us such a headache over the years. I've been counseled by rescue groups that...
I posted this a few months ago and got no takers, so I thought I'd give it another shot just in case. I have two 1.5 year old Wyandottes that I'd like to re-home. One gold-laced and one silver-laced. One of them pecks at people and dogs, which I can deal with, but I want to change my setup...
Thanks I'll try this. But 1) it's going to be hard to do with that flat Wyandotte comb! and 2) I'm still of a mind to get rid of her. Chicken owning should be fun! I don't want to have dominance wars with the hens. I already have to fight for dominance with everybody and everything else in...
I've never heard of that trick with dominance. I pick her up and flip her over every time she gets me, but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. The silver-laced Wyandotte is an ok bird. She's not too friendly but has never pecked me. Today, for the first time since I've had her, she...
If anyone in the Portland area is looking to add a fully grown, full-sized Wyandotte or two to their flock, I just posted mine in the BST section:

Anyone in the Portland area or nearby want to trade your large coop for a medium sized coop? Mine is a 4X8, a couple of years old. It's pretty charming, if I do say so myself, but it's also been well used over the course of a few years. It's got four nesting boxes, an enclosed indoor area...
Baking soda's a good idea. You must buy it in bulk? Where do you get so much? And what do you do about the flies in the summer? That's been a constant problem for me. I imagine just cleaning better is the only real solution. Hopefully by next summer the baby will be able to let me work in...
Vector control inspector! I've been dreading having my coop and run looked at, because I never do anything to it! I throw my grass and weed clippings in there in the summertime so the chickens can scratch at it, and there's a bunch of bins that hold rocks that I cleaned out of the backyard. I...
I've never heard of hog fuel, so I looked it up. The only thing I can think of that might be a problem with it is that since it's a mix of unlabeled woods, it could have cedar in it, which you're not supposed to use with poultry. But who knows?
Oh no, thanks for telling me!

Anyway, my neighbor Sharon is always helping me out with my own chicken questions. She's a master gardener and she used to work at the Urban Farm Store down on SE Division. The article tells...
Oregon chicken sitters! Check it out, Oregonians, my neighbor just started this business and it got featured on CNN Money!

The internet told me a low of 30, but I'm prepared for 20. Two of my hens decided to pluck themselves naked this week, don't know why. So I took all three ladies and put them in a dog crate in the garage. I'd have just put a heat lamp on them but it looks like my lamp is broken, so the garage...
I went to the Urban Farm Store in Southeast Portland today to get some fertilized eggs from one of the employees. If all goes well, in 21 days I'm going to have a Sicilian Buttercup, a Turken, and a Delaware, so if anyone wants one, speak up!
My barred rock went broody today. I'm not sure what the best course of action is, but I fantasize that it'd be nice to let her incubate some fertile eggs on the off chance that anyone in the area happens to have some eggs that need incubating. Let me know if I can put this broodiness to work!
I helped some friends get their first chicken flock started this weekend. We went to Pistil's Nursery on North Mississippi. It was awesome, we got three little barred rock hens. I think we got the last few Rocks and the rest were black sex links. Also, they had some serama roosters. The...
