Adorable Cynthia...I'm done for this season. Whooped...wore out...exhausted. Fun but needing some r and r!!
Same for me! I have 5 different ages going right now...my garage is a mess with chickens (4 different boxes/pens). Looking forward to next year when I can hatch my own and have...
Here's a picture of what I hatched out yesterday. Barnyard mixes, always the healthiest and easy to hatch. Going back to the friend that gave me the eggs..except for two I picked out to watch for myself.

Wow, surprises like that don't hurt! Happy that you got some Barnevelders. When they get older, you will have to post pictures. There must be a site for them somewhere on here. My little one, is staying pretty small..so hoping it is a hen also. Almost two months and is smaller...
Well Stevenson, I hope when you come home, it will be to at least, two healthy Barnevelder chicks..and hopefully more will have hatched!

On a happier note...I have my first pip. I suspect my action will be...

That is strange. Did they hatch on their own, or did you have to help them out? If I have to help them out, I end up giving them electrolytes when they are about 6 or 7 hrs. old. Just a tiny, tiny drop of it...about every hr. and a half, then an hr. then watch to see how they are...

Congrats! What a cute name for your hen. And, what a great husband to be able to do that! And yes, God is amazing.
I can't answer any questions when it comes to broody hens. I can suggest that you just leave your one little egg in the bator, all by itself. The other baby has...
