I set 10 more BO eggs on Thursday. I think this'll be my last BO hatch. Probably butchering my rooster on the 13th and selling the hens afterwards. Black Copper Marans and Blue Ameraucanas, here I come!
Too bad we aren't closer, I've got a 10 week old sweetheart and a one year old BO rooster both looking for new homes.
6 out of 7 BO eggs just hatched! Egg number 7 was DIS. :hit
I am really excited! Hatch date for 55 of them is a week from today, Tuesday the 18th, and then I have 7 more Buff Orpingtons that will hatch five days later, once the incubators are empty from that, I am setting some eggs that I traded for with an Orpington breeder on here, definitely setting a...
I wouldn't necessarily say that...rank in pecking order is affected by personalities, age, healthiness, size, etc, etc. If you have a flock of silkies and a old BO hen, the silkies might dominate her. I actually had a Lavender Orp that was the lowest in the pecking order, and if a rooster came...
Oh, you sound like me...lol I have been raising my laying chickens for 13 months, and I am in deeper than about anybody I know..... Hatch-a-holicism has struck hard and I currently have three pens, and trying to scrape the money together to get a 50' poultry net for the newest coop and a 20...
Don't get an incubator if you want to save yourself a lot of money, coop space, hatch-a-holicism. Lol Although really, breeding is a lot of fun! I've had fun expiermenting and I currently have white leghorn x buff Orpington in the incubator.
Does the black one have white wing tips? Like, the very tip, you might need to extend her wing to even see it. I have raised Black Australorps, and they have white wing tipps until they are adults.
Thanks! Yeah, I hadn't seen you on the incubating spot much, figured you didn't do a ton of it, that was kinda a roundabout way of saying congrats. Lol I can be socially awkward sometimes...
Crisis averted! I candled the 63 I had tonight and took out 7, then added in my 7 BO's, now I'm just gonna have to figure out multi stage hatching. Got any tips, oh educator badge over there? ;)
