We got our first double yolk :D One of the adult girls laid it, pretty cool! I've had chickens for a little over a year and this is a first, I was excited! Lol! My husband kinda gave me that look like "I think I'm married to a crazy person." Hehe!

Oh these buffs :D It is so true that they are pretty darn close to the perfect chickens! All 4 are laying already (the first out of all my breeds I might add) and they are just so sweet! The pullet eggs are adorable too <3

So far I've only noticed this one with the lacing, which made me wonder if it was normal too

I would say a cross or somewhere along the line there was a cross that the traits are just coming out. Also the legs look yellow to me? Buffs should be pink

Sexing can be so difficult. I will say that I saw a video about sexing them early like at a few days old by their wings and I accurately sexed my mom's buff Orps at a couple days old that way. Males have only one row of wind feathers and females have two.

One of my girls laid her first egg today :D Her name is Hope and she was squawking up a STORM! My word. It was funny! And my young Wellie roo was copying her LOL The top 3 eggs are my young girls', top 2 are from a speckled Sussex really quite large for their first eggs! And then Hope laid...

In my experience buff orp males develop feathers more slowly and so the two you have circled are either both males or just randomly slow to develop which can happen too. But if you made me guess I would say they're both male :)

I hear ya! I'm that same way too ;) Yep just go for it because what works for one person may not for the next and vice versa. Just pull the trigger and deal with what comes :D And have fun!

I was worried about that too when I added a couple different breeds this spring, so far no one in particular gets picked on. Surprisingly, my buff Ari (the one that begs to be held and will just stand at your feet until you pick her up) I thought wow she's so gentle and sweet, she will for sure...
