I had this same thing happen with my first batch of Buffs that I got from My Pet Chicken. Four of them were the standard Buff color with pinkish legs and 1 was more blonde with a yellowish beak and yellowish legs and the other was very blonde with a greenish tint to her legs. If I am not...

We had this happen too where we ordered a BO and received a Buff Rock or some sort of BO/Buff Rock mix. However, she has turned out to be a fantastic layer.

Congratulations!!! You will soon be collecting eggs. Their combs and wattles should also be more prominent and becoming a deeper red. Be on the lookout for them to break out in a chorus of the egg song too.

Your girls are fine. That coloration is referred to as "smut" and while it is not the breed standard a lot of Buffs from hatcheries have it. Two of mine have it and I was hoping that they would lose some of it after their first molt but it is still there.

ITA! We decided to enlarge our flock this year and we added some BBS, Gold Laced and Chocolate Orpingtons to our existing Buff flock. They are all incredibly sweet. I am super happy with our all Orpington flock.

I can't think of any cons of owning Buff Orpingtons other than they do not handle heat with high humidity very well (at least ours don't). For example, we have been having temps of 93 degrees with super high humidity and a heat index of 110 and I have to bring a couple of our girls inside...

Little Goldie is a beauty. I am totally not surprised that she is your favorite. We fell hard for the Orpington breed too and it is all we have. There are so many varieties of Orps that you can have beautifully diverse plumage with just the one sweet breed.

Those are definitely some yellow legs! estasko, were they sold to you as Buff Orpingtons? Because the one of questionable gender is definitely a mix since Buffs have whitish pink legs. I had a hatchery "Buff" that ended up with a yellow beak and legs and we figured out she probably had some...
