checked her 15mmin ago. Moving around more, still a little limpy/ not up all the way. She did love her scratch.
We got her at the poultry show in November. Not knowing what to look for, she had her eyes pecked on before and one was half shut. She's the largest girl we've got, skittish. Not sure...
Thank you. This poor girl has been thru enough before we even got her and it's up to us to give her the best life she can have. I feel so bad there isn't more I can help her.
Came home and checked on her again. Still laying around or limping, not even bouncy when I shook treat at her cage. Her left leg is swollen and warm. I took off her leg band as it seemed tight. I'll check on her in the morning and update
Thank you for your kind words and guidance.
no sign of fever, discoloration, scabs. Eating and kind of scratching, drinking fine. Hunched over and hobbling/ limping. Kids say she was standing normal last night. Pooping fine.
What vitamin in water? We separated her this morning just in case and precaution for her safety.
Have a question about our oldest buff (hatch ~March/early April 2016; not sure as she's one of three gotten at poultry show in Nov).
She's laying about 2-3x a week, was laying more like every other day before moving to barn; it's colder out there but laying isn't my question.
This morning...
Little back story, scroll down if ya don't want to read that;)
I love our buff orpingtons, we have 5 of them. 2 hatched 27 April 2 hatched 16 May & we got a new pullet from the poultry show (hatched March).
Our original 4 girls are easier to manage than the new addition. She got pecked tons by...
they all grow at their own rate, wait till she shoots up then you'll be really amazed!! We have smaller girls within same breed as well and it's always a mystery for us too. Shes a cute little thing:)
Wahoo 3rd buff Orpington finally laid today! 26wks yesterday. Been playing in nesting box past wk or so. We're so thrilled. Now 1 buff Orpington left to go! We got 1 BO from the show and she already lays then our other 2 lay since 17 Oct week (24wks old) and now this new one.
went after him several times. Attacked our buff orpingtons severely, nearly killing them (their heads were horribly bloody & the girls were terrified to even leave perches)
yeah, I know no one was distressed. I said so sad cause the amt we love our girls is crazy and cause she looks hilarious with the shark. Looks like the shark has her in its mouth. I love the bucket o chicken idea. Hubby is fed up with our roo.
not sure about all Buffs...our first 2 buffs started @ 24 weeks, squatting 2 full weeks before & we got 2 soft eggs before first regular hard one. Wondering when our 2 younger girls will lay, everything with them is later. Lol
We think one of the 22wk old buffs started laying yesterday!!! I spotted an egg on the coop floor, extremely soft shell. It was broken and caved in. I never dealt with soft shell before. Today was a bit harder and in the nesting box. It is a much lighter brown than our Golden Comet or Black...
