My Welsummer was sitting on 6 Naked Neck and 6 Plymouth Rock bantam eggs - she could have sat on about 18 bantam eggs if that's all I had. My other Welsummer is currently on 12 large fowl eggs, she covers them no trouble.- K Spot

Good work I've candled some eggs I've thought were not developing, but I've put them back under the hen just in case. I can't see any harm in doing it. Wow, loved the video- K Spot

Adorable! I've noticed that when hatch day is close. my broodies get a LOT more protective of the eggs. My Welsummers and Speckled Sussex have gone broody a few times before I've let the Wellies actually sit and hatch, all are over a year old now but I guess they were around 9 months old...- K Spot

Try not to worry too much PortlandHen. She may be getting of the nest for a quick bite to eat, quick drink, relive herself and get back on the nest without you seeing it.
