It Usually works?! But those determined girls had their second bath and still dried themselves and back to nesst!!!! Ahhggghh they're driving me coocoo banas! I need their eggs right now! We already let 4 broodies hatch! Tow of those were given to our auties, one is with us and the 4th one is...
Yes true!
This girl only went broody when she was a young pullet and had a similar amount of chicks(18 oe 16) I can't recall my memory that's years ago! And now she did it again!
And guess what she is more careful with her babies than every pullet i set! Pullets are crazy sometimes and they...

Yes totally true when she is in her CHOSEN nest: she will get up mostly in early morning to do her stuff, but USUALLY(at least in my experience) whe she is moved to another location she usually is a bit scared/discouraged to leave because she's not familiar and comfortable with the new...
Sorry
i was half asleep, like when you moved her somewhere esle safer! She will be less comfortable leaving the nest to releive herself! No mistake everything good but just take her out of the nest once everyday and ebcourage her to go eat/drink /poop :)
Now I'm trying to break 5 broodies with the cold water baths method, as i don't have a broody breaker cage. the first baths i gave them the were shocked but quickly dried themselves and after a while they went back to the nests one after another still a little wet.... I gave them another bath...
Nice! And don't forget to force your broody out to eat and drink and eliminate! Or else she might starve herself to the point of collapsing! Especially that you monitored her nesting place! This is a deadly mistake many newbies to broodies make.
Hope all goes well woth her and you get a good...
Hehe
Hehehhe....
Well an update! I found all 15 chicks in the morning as expected and i checjed for the 16th egg, it was not chirping then i supposed it's dead... Then when i was about to make a small pip to make sure its dead a loud chirp came out!!! I was sooo surprised!!!! I was still there...
Totally know what you mean ;) today my 8 year old broody is hatching 16 eggs, the last time i checked(10 hours ago, its 4 am now and im sleep deprived) 8 were totally out, 2 were zipped, 5 were pipped and one so sign of life(probably dead in shell)... So in a couple hours im hoping to see 15...
Today my 8 year old broody's eggs started hatching... 10 are out, and 5 more pipped... Only one egg didn't pip yet and no chirping.. So i think this one won't hatch... That hopefully will make 15 chicks out of 16 eggs!
I shall check on her tomorrow and update with pictures!
Mine are out with their mom to the main flock as early as 5 days old(sometimes i wait more).... Never had a problem mommy knows how to manage her family and the key to this success is that they free range on a decent peice of land freely so everyone goes about their business and no one really...
hey everyon!
I always hatch my chicks with my flock's girls... We've always done that and never had an incubator... All natural... And as usual this spring we had many pullets from last season go broody... One of them hatched 9(wich is bad for us lol), the other hatched thirteen(not bad), and...
