It must be a hormone thing. If I had know just how big it would blossom tho I'd have done better population control and not given Tilly that many eggs. Her chicks are one from each of the other hens and at only 3 weeks or so I'm pretty sure one is a roo already. He's from my favorite red, she's...

Too funny! We say ours sounds like the one that spits black goo at Nedly. I forget what kind it is. You know, 'fetch the stick stupid.' That one. My son says to stand back!
Well Miss Tilly has inspired Little Hawk into broodiness! These girls are EE/production red mixes, so I'm totally surprised. Didn't have many eggs so Little Hawk has her last laid plus two from my best layers. She seems happy enough.
Day 2 and Miss Tilly is a great brooder. She only has 5 eggs cause I frankly don't have room for too many just now and she's a wee girl. One good layer out of the bunch will make me happy. Anything else is bonus. (My Roos are production red mix.)
Miss Tilly spent the night on the nest! I'm so excited! She's just a sweet mutt pullet. I'm going to give her today's lay and see if I can get some game mix eggs from a friend and let her try!
