Just throwing this out there...
I have 4 faverolle hens...they are 1 year and 3 months old...I have had to use my broody breaker 4 times!!! Holy goodness mother of pearl!
So if you want broodiness I recommend the faverolle breed...just saying lol
Yeah that seems about right I showed her the Chick and she pecked it hard 3 times so I pulled it away.
Too bad she didn't go broody at the right time lol
Thank you for your reply. I have 6 buff orpington chicks that are almost 4 weeks old. I am debating if I should rehome my faverolle because of the broodiness. I don't mind it but they don't make eggs when they are broody and that's why I got chickens. I can have only 8 max, so I will be giving...
OMG I have had 3 of my 4 faverolle hens go broody and they are just at a year old what a pain in the butt if you don't want a broody hen
I have her in the broody breaker: galvanized dog crate with good and water and a small perch. I hope she breaks this behavior soon! I think last time it look...
This is my broody hen at the moment. I wish she would stop her broodiness! This breed is more broody then I thought faverolles are the sweetest breed but they aren't even a year old yet and I have had two go broody.
It is double complicated because my broodye while being on the nest my whole flock was introduced to a whole new set up a new coop and a new run so she has a lot to adjust to And is doing fairly well
Just went out and checked on all of the girls and the broody hen is back on the roost bar sleeping peacefully
I hope tomorrow my flock wull resume normal behavior
Well my broody hen did a very good job she has two out of the six eggs only three of the eggs were actually fertilized I believe and for some reason the last check only developed for so many days and then stopped developing I noticed when I candle the egg that the air sac was on both ends of the...
It wasn't a staggered hatch it was day 19 the lavendar laced Cochins hatched! Early! There is still a cuckoo maroon (don't know how to spell that) that appears it will hatch on day 21 which is tomorrow
I had to put the chicks in the brooder the mama wasn't letting them eat and drink and keeping them warm found one chick calling out this morning next to her but no response from her. Only one egg left that is a prospect hatch if she can hang out for two more days to hatch it!!
Ok she just saw the Chice under her and freaked out and pecked it in the head! Do I have a homicidal broody? And if so should i.let her sit on the Chi KS for the first 24 hours after a hatch and then remove them so they are safe?
One is born today this morning the other eggs are on their way. One looks like it's pecked on the snide I just closed the top and I'm letting my hen do the work I am just nervous. I have chick starter out for the babies and water . Not sure what else I should do. What about vaccines merKS for...
I am not that great with broody hens yet I am dealing.with my broody for the first time too. What I did was separate her from the rest of the flock and give her only one nest and her own space. She doesn't get off the nest at all really I have to get her out after three days of not moving. Maybe...
I'm having to hand feed my broody hen and give water via dropper. I'm hoping that once they hatch she will get off her broody booty and take care of her immidiate needs. I'm taking her off the next at least once a day in the evening for 30 min to an hour
My hen went broody early this week. I figured I would get fertilized eggs from a friend and I can hatch some chickes and keep half the hatch to add to my flock.
Well she isn't getting off the nest at all unless I take her off. I know this because I have been home all day for the last two and a...
