    Broody Hen Thread!

Gardenlady2, You'll want her on the floor eventually so the chicks don't fall out of the nest. Moving her in the evening/night seems to be the most common recommendation. Try to set up a safe area for her...I used a large dog crate lined with sand on the floor of the coop. Then with help from my...

You've got a good plan! I know it'll drive you nuts to be away when the hatch is scheduled. I'm currently away from home too...got to see 3 of 5 hatch before we went away for a previously scheduled anniversary week away. I'm forced to rely on my house-sitters for updates and pics...I'm jealous...

Hi again ClucksnDucks! I was able to see your cams again...it looks like you moved the nest to the floor...if that's what I'm seeing in the bottom cam...looks like a nest in the corner on the far right. How is Mama doing? Now I just looked back at your cams and I think you've got one focused on...

    Broody Hen Thread!

If your eggs will be doing a staggered hatch because they were laid over a couple of days your hen and the first hatchlings won't move from the nest the first day to two days, so your goal should be to get her to a safe area on ground level. I'm not able to view the web cam, but from your...

I moved my broody from her high nest to dog crate I had on coop floor. Put sand in coop and then i held Lee while my husband held eggs and my sister moved the hay nest into the crate. I had food and water in the crate. She ran around a bit but once she entered the crate i closed her in. We left...
