I have a Silkie setting, & forgot to put the day she started in my calendar so I have no idea when they r due! LOL Good thing I know she's a good trusted mom I suppose! And she always lays in a dog house I've put in the ground, cause she refuses to go up the steps to the coop like everyone else...- sonderah

Those 2 chicks could have died in the shell, even after pipping. They will toss out the bad to make more room. I hate when chicks make it sooo far, & then die while trying to hatch. :(- sonderah

4/8 so far on Day 21!! It was enough to move mom, eggs, and babies to a lower nest and not worry about her leaving the rest of the eggs. Lol 3 CCL (1 boy 2 girls) and a blue Orpington.- sonderah

Went out to check on my broody EE, who's eggs are due to hatch Saturday. And she had a white feather hanging from her beak, she's dark grey and red. I just leave mine and each day take any new eggs laid. She gets up for food and water on her own on occasion. Sometimes try will peck at me when i lift them to get fresh laid eggs, but I just ignore them and do what I want. Lol Eventually my other hens just stopped laying in her box. After...- sonderah

Like everyone else said, seems good, but u need know for sure bout them crazy hormones. If her hormones DO kick in full throttle, u will def know it. Lol She sounds like she's trying to find that, what feels right under her. Is her chest/belly area plucked? I've had one and no eggs to give her...- sonderah

I'd say she is going broody, she is just still building her clutch. Her hormones are not in full force yet. Once she has enough eggs there that feel "just right", she will start staying in the box almost constant and be in a trance, making that adorable light little "cluck cluck" sound everytime...- sonderah
