I think we may be done, even though today is day 21, no new pips in about 20hours, 10 eggs left. I candled and I didn't see anything moving in any of them, but they are still in there just in case , my little ones are still drying. There are 15 of them! Little d'uccle's.
Still just pips for me, I think I have about 12 so far, can here little cheeps, but none that have pipped, have done anything more, so here's to hoping for some little chickies in the morning! Hope everyone get some sleep tonight!
I have pips!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay and a question. I used paper egg cartons and they got wet from me adding water, should I move them to something dry? It's not dripping wet, but it wicked it up from the water trough (I guess it wasn't as level as I thought. I don't want ot mess it up by openning...
My lock down was last night, had 16 with moving little ones in them, and about 10 with not much going on at all, but really big air cells. We'll see what happens! I'm going to go spy on them in a bit, but not expecting anything until tomorrow. Looks like lots of little chicks coming around...
Coming right along here. I candled yesterday just to get them all done as I hadn't done them all yet. I kind of freaked a bit because at first it was just black, then I realized it was the chick! I have 26 growing right now, I hope all continues to go well. My lockdown is on June 2 (start a...
yep, I totally want to do it again tonight! It is so neat to see them moving around. I am going to try to stop myself until it's been a few more days that way they will be bigger. My son would like to see them moving, and I don't know if he'd see them quite yet, but if they are bigger he would.
I candled! I did about half and they all had air cells and little moving chicks! I could not believe it! I didn't do anything fancy, just had a small flash light and held it up to the egg. It was so neat to see them moving around.
I have to find a flashlight, might candle tonight, or at least a few. We'll see, I might wait a day or so too. Thanks for the updates, nice to have people to wait with .
Julie
I'm so nervous about candling. I don't want to mess anything up, and I don't think I'd know what I was looking for, anyone not candle? If you do candle, what do you use and how do you do it? How do you know if it's a 'good' egg?
Julie - totally new to hatching! First hatch, and don't want...
We had an Austrolorp roo, he was HUGE, and a good rooster, he could get a little mean, but it was easy to put him back in his place. I miss him. Can't wait to have a rooster again, never thought I'd say that! Though my disdane and loathing of foxes will never go away!
And thank you all for...
I put mine in last night, so I day late, but it would be nice to have people to go down this waiting road with, plus it's my first, so want to make sure I keep up on things! I have some really old eggs from hens that we had but lost to a fox, but my son was insistant that I put them in, and 30...
