Best lamb I have ever eaten hands down, mild flavor and low fat. http://www.stcroixsheep.org/breed.html I made many phone calls to find this breed and ended up finding a small breeder a few miles down the road. They really are a wonderful breed.

Maybe I missed someone mentioning a donkey living with the sheep. We lost a lamb from a pack of coyotes so we got a free donkey and boy was he the BEST at keeping them away, if they got close he would charge and once he had established his territory they never came near the fence line again. We...

I ordered my water kefir cultures from http://www.culturesforhealth.com out of Oregon, they came fast but I have not started them yet they have a lot to choose from and a lot of information for getting started in the world of cultured/fermented foods.

I could not agree more, when I read that I thought "Wow, I wish I was debt free but there is no way I would not have food storage!" I too have been slowly building my pantry with only food we actually eat for the last four years, I think it is a way to protect your family not only from not...

Ewesheep I am just floored, well at least he seems to be maintaining at what he is doing! That is frugal for sure but I would be so bored I would rather not eat. LOL, I would do what you have done, sneaking them in, I do that to my father in law after he yelled at my MIL for using sour cream, I...

Hubby only eats Peanut butter? That's it? WOW! Do you mind if I ask why and does he have any health problems, it just seems so unbalanced for a diet. I truly mean no offense I am just curious.

LDS have many resources that are available to non Mormons also, you can use their canneries and buy bulk from them without being a member, just contact a ward around you and they will tell you the information. Start researching food storage on Google and you will find MANY ideas for getting...

Quote: This is so true! And to top it off most of the produce in our fancy grocery stores are from Mexico and beyond and for some reason our Mexican grocery carries a ton of USA grown produce for a lot cheaper. I shop there often, for example they had granny smith apples 4 lbs for a dollar, 2...

Quote: I refuse to (unless I had to) scrimp on food, we buy as much organic and grass fed as we can afford. We drive an SUV and it gets close to 28 on the HWY miles, just saying not all are bad

Quote: It works great in a HE machine, I have used it for two years, maybe more with no issue due to very little suds action with this recipe. Other recipes out there use different soap other than fels naptha but I find it cleans best over zote and a few others that are available.

Quote: We switched our dogs food from store brand to a higher quality dog food that costs twice as much and we are spending less. Dogs don't process the cheap grain based food well, our dogs eat about a third of what they used to which in turn means less poo to clean up also. Costco if you...

I buy olive oil, the large bottles that are normally 9.00 or so when they are 5.00 or less (about twice a year here) and freeze them. I also store all my flours in the freezer. Extra eggs for baking when you have them coming out your ears are frozen. Fruit and juices are frozen for later use...
