Sherol, thank you. That is the way I am gonna do it. Drink it here and there. I live alone too and as I said before, consume 2 gal a week. I never thought about leaving it open for the 1st 24. Hmmmm. Next time I get some, I'll sip it first and see then go from there.
$4 a gal for raw milk. That is so nice. I can understand the higher price though since these tiny farms are local and I bet the overhead is tremendous so I would never expect or demand a price that low but it would be nice for sure.
I totally get it. I don't blame you. The raw isn't always financially feasible for many people. I am leaning towards a couple times a month treat and buying the majority of milk at TJ's. They claim it's hormone and antibiotic free.
I have to say this has been a wonderful discussion and each...

I didn't know that it didn't spoil like store bought does. That is good to know. I like the sale price you pay. I have two farms' websites so I need to go on and look. Thanks for the info about shelf life. I thought maybe I had to consume it within a few days.
Thank you ALL so much for your responses. I really appreciate it. And you all bring up some very, very good points.
@donrae you live in Southern Oregon. Farout. I am in Bend. I was totally on the same wavelength as you regarding the price. 8/gal is a lot and when I do the math it's...
I have a question for you all. It involves paying alot more money for something but supports local farming. I drink 2 Gallons of milk a week. I am considering moving from store bought processed pasteurized milk for $3.29/gal x 2 per week to raw milk at $8/gal x 2 per week. Steep, I know. I...
